The International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) denounces the United States Supreme Court’s (SCOTUS) decision to overturn the federal abortion protection that Roe v. Wade afforded to millions of American women.
“We stand for the rights of all women around the world to receive unrestricted access to the full spectrum of medical care which allows them to make personal decisions about their reproductive health care. We call upon governments to support legislation that does NOT endanger the health and safety of women but instead empowers medical professionals who are trained, qualified, and experienced to provide women with access to safe and affordable abortion care around the world.”
IUGA stands shoulder to shoulder with like-minded organizations such as the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS), the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (RCOG), the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) and many others as we commit to policy action and advocacy to ensure that every patient’s medical treatment is managed by professional health care practitioners rather than politicians.
