It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Prof. Manoel Girao, Director of the Escola Paulista de Medicina and Full Professor at the Gynecology Department at UNIFESP (Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Brazil). Prof. Girao was a pioneer in the field of urogynecology in Brazil. He was a proponent of and major contributor to the establishment of the field of urogynecology in Brazil as well as one of the founders of the Brazilian Society of Urogynecology (UROGINAP). It is with gratefulness that IUGA recognizes Prof. Girao for his signifcant contributions to urogynecology around the world.
