Call For Committee Volunteers

IUGA relies heavily on its members. We need the best skills, passion, and varied perspectives to continue building on our success. The call for volunteers to serve on IUGA committees is open now through December 4, 2017. Members interested in serving on the Education Committee, Fellows & Trainees Committee, Membership Committee, Publications Committee, Public Relations Committee, Research & Development Committee, or Terminology & Standardization Committee, are encouraged to let IUGA know of their willingness to participate. Descriptions of the committees can be found below.Eligibility: Membership on IUGA's committees is open to all interested urogynecologists, urologists, and allied health sciences professionals holding current membership in IUGA. The intent is for committee membership to represent the diversity of the geographic origins of the IUGA Membership.Term: Members added to IUGA committees as a result of this Call for Committee Volunteers will have a term start date of January 1, 2018.   • Your name;
  • Name of the committee for which you are applying;
  • A brief statement of interest explaining why you are interested in serving on the committee, including any relevant experience you have to the work of the committee;
  • Your resume/CV.

The above items must all be received by Monday, December 4, 2017, in order for your application to be considered complete. Only complete applications will be forwarded to Committee Chairs for review and selection.

Education Committee

Chairperson: Catherine Matthews
Number of Vacancies: 1 member on the E-Learning Subcommittee 
Term Length: 3 years

Description: The main duty of the IUGA Education Committee is to develop, promote, and maintain the educational offerings of the association. The Education Committee oversees the program content for Regional Symposia and eXchange programs. It also conducts the workshop selection process for the Annual Meeting and guides other educational activities of the association. Members of the Education Committee are assigned to one of three subcommittees (Workshop Subcommittee, Program Subcommittee, or E-learning Subcommittee).

Experience: Training at the masters or PhD level in education is preferred. Having knowledge of educational programming, online learning, and educational delivery methodologies for adult education is a plus. 

Fellows & Trainees Committee

Chairperson: Svjetlana Lozo (beginning 2018)
Number of Vacancies: 2
Term Length: 2 years

Description: The main duty of the IUGA Fellows & Trainees Committee is to contribute to the academic development of fellows in the field of urogynecology/female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery by fostering international scholarship.

Eligibility: Membership is open to all interested urogynecology fellows/trainees holding membership with IUGA. Applications will be accepted from both urogynecology fellows, and fellows in other specialties and allied health sciences, who have an interest in pelvic floor disorders. 

Special Application Instructions: In addition to submitting your statement of interest along with your resume/CV, applicants to the Fellows & Trainees Committee must also submit a letter on institutional letterhead verifying their enrolment in a fellowship/physician-in-training program.

Membership Committee

Chairperson: Abdul Sultan (beginning 2018)
Number of Vacancies: 8
Term Length: 2 years 

Description: The Membership Committee works in partnership with IUGA staff to develop and execute member recruitment and retention strategies and to provide advice regarding membership-related processes.

Publications Committee

Chairperson: Debby Karp
Number of Vacancies: 4 
Term Length: 3 years

Description: The purpose of the Publications Committee is to edit and publish the IUGA Official Newsletter quarterly. Committee member responsibilities include writing articles, finding authors for the newsletter and editing/proofreading. 

Public Relations Committee

Chairperson: Olanrewaju Sorinola
Number of Vacancies: 4 Committee Members; 3 Social Media Subcommittee Members
Term Length: 3 years

Description: The Public Relations Committee is responsible for the development and management of media communications on behalf of IUGA to the community, patients, physicians and IUGA members. This includes developing content for patient information brochures and other educational materials for the Online Store and patient website. 

Members of the Social Media Subcommittee contribute content for social media posts on a monthly basis.

Research & Development Committee

Chairperson: Pallavi Latthe (beginning 2018)
Number of Vacancies: 3
Term Length: 3 years

Description: The main duty of the Research & Development Committee is to review research applications and award grant funding for original research in the field of urogynecology. The committee also develops and promotes research manuscripts and projects through its members and interested individuals. 

Experience: Specific expertise in urogynecology research (basic sciences and/or clinical) is required. 

Terminology & Standardization Committee

Chairperson: Joseph Lee
Number of Vacancies: 2 
Term Length: 3 years

Description: The Terminology & Standardization Committee is responsible for the development, publication and subsequent management of IUGA documents related to terminology and standardization. At times, there will be joint projects with 1 or more other societies. Subsequent management includes translation of the published documents.
