IUGA Announces 2023 IUGA Distinguished Service Award Recipient

Ranee Thakar's service both to IUGA and to the field of urogynecology speak for themselves. Currently the President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and co-chair of the College’s Race Equality Taskforce, Ranee previously served as the Vice President of Global Health at the RCOG and has been a member of the RCOG Council since 2016. She is past President of IUGA and the current chair of the IUGA Patient Advisory Council and leads the national obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASI) Care Bundle Project. Regionally, Ranee leads the Perinatal Pelvic Health Project and Urogynaecology network for South-West London, developing multi-disciplinary collaboration with urologists, midwives, physiotherapists, nurses and GPs.

A true patient advocate, Ranee’s drive for excellence and empathetic nature inspired her to set up the IUGA Patient Advisory Council during her time as IUGA President. She is an inspiration, a driver of change, and an all-around lovely person.

It is our great honor to award Ranee Thakar with the IUGA Distinguished Service Award.
