This webinar aims to explore the role of nurses in Clean Intermittent Self- Catheterization (CISC) practices and to highlight international perspectives on continence care. The session brings together experienced professionals from different countries to share insights into clinical applications, patient education, and multidisciplinary approaches to CISC.
Through a combination of theoretical and practical presentations, the webinar will address evidence-based nursing interventions that improve patient adherence, comfort, and confidence during CISC. Case examples from Turkey and global perspectives from Slovenia and Bahrain will provide a comparative understanding of how continence care is implemented in various health systems.
The event also aims to strengthen interprofessional collaboration by emphasizing the contribution of nurses in the prevention, management, and education of patients with lower urinary tract symptoms. By the end of the session, participants will have gained a deeper understanding of best practices, challenges, and innovative strategies in CISC from a nursing standpoint.

Moderator

Rüveyda Ölmez Yalazı graduated from Marmara University Institutes of Health Sciences Obstetrics and Gynecological Diseases Nursing and is an Assistant Professor at Fenerbahçe University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery, in Istanbul, Turkiye. Her research focuses on urogynecology nursing and digital health interventions, particularly the development of mobile applications for bladder training and urinary diary monitoring. She currently serves as the Western Asia Representative on the IUGA International Advisory Board and actively promotes interdisciplinary collaboration in women’s pelvic health.

Prof. Dr. Nurdan Demirci graduated from İstanbul Üniversitesi Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and is currently Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Diseases Nursing at Marmara Üniversitesi, Turkiye. Her academic focus includes women’s health, urogynecology nursing, and reproductive health. She has led numerous national and international research projects in these fields, publishing extensively and contributing to professional development of nursing practice.
Presenter

Anita Jelar is a clinical nurse specialist in urogynecology with extensive experience in continence care and pelvic floor rehabilitation. She works at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia, where she provides specialized care for women with urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. Anita has been actively involved in developing and implementing nurse-led continence care programs and is passionate about improving patient education and empowerment. She also participates in international projects and workshops focusing on evidence-based approaches to urogynecology nursing practice.
Presenter

Raquel Neves boasts over 19 years of clinical experience in the rehabilitation field. She currently serves as the Director of Nursing for Almoosa Rehabilitation Hospital (Almoosa Health, KSA). Her previous roles include Executive Director at the Dubai Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Center (UAE) and Adjunct Faculty for Health Science at the Higher College of Technology (UAE). Neves has worked in the UAE and Portugal. She holds a specialization & master's in Nursing Rehabilitation, and a doctorate in Stroke Rehabilitation. She co-authored Chapter 7 - Post-Acute Stroke Care in the Comprehensive Review for Stroke Nursing, 2nd edition from AANN (USA). Additionally, Neves is a former member of the Board of Directors for ARN (USA), an active member of the European Stroke Organization (Europe), serving as chair of the Neuro-Rehabilitation Committee, Mentor for the “Future Stroke Leaders Program” 2024-2026 – Cohort 3 for the World Stroke Organization and the founder of the Emirates Nursing Rehabilitation Society (UAE).
