Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings   from  URPSSI

“The glory of medicine is that it is constantly moving forward, that there is always more to learn”

-  William J Mayo (1861-1939).

It is my privilege to   inform you about the “IUGA Regional Symposium 2018 & URPS 2018 - operative workshop and conference on "Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery” scheduled to be held at The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University Auditorium, No. 69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600032 from 07th to 09th   of September 2018.

Veteran Urogynecologists from different continents, will unravel the intricacies of pelvic floor surgeries.

The following operative procedures will be demonstrated.

  • POP (Mc calls culdoplasty, Intra & extra peritoneal high utero sacral ligament suspension, sacro spinous ligament suspension, sacro hysteropexy, sacro colpopexy
  • Fascial repair for anterior and posterior vaginal wall prolapse
  • Mid urethral slings, pubo vaginal sling, burch colposuspension
  • Urinary & Faecal Fistula (VVF & RVF)
  • Repair of Obstetric anal sphincter injuries

The growing scientific advances demand an ongoing learning process.  Regular and continuing knowledge acquisition of newer management modalities becomes an absolute necessity for the medical fraternity.

Great surgeon Theodoric (1205- 1296) has said that “it behooves practitioners of surgery to frequent the places where skilled surgeons operate, and to attend these operations diligently and commit them to memory”

Excellence   can only be accomplished by training and habituation. “Read one, see one and Do one” does not hold good for pelvic floor surgeries. Pelvic Surgeries need to be seen frequently and practiced regularly.

  • Should you participate in IUGA Regional Symposium 2018 &
    URPS 2018?   Yes.  because
  • It will ensure learning from “Master Surgeons”

Surgeons may be    admired, praised and even adored for good results. But then, they are blamed more than any other specialty for bad results despite all the hard work.

  • IUGA Regional Symposium & URPS 2018 will help you to work smartly

It is said that “the illiterate of future are not those who can’t read or write, but those who can’t learn to unlearn (obsolete methods) & re - learn” (appropriate newer techniques).

  • IUGA Regional Symposium & URPS 2018   will empower you to accomplish the transition smoothly.

URPSSI is a national registered society founded in 2005 with an objective to promote collaboration among specialists and to promote education. It is affiliated to IUGA (International Urogynecological Association) since 2008. Annual operative workshop and conferences in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic surgery (URPS) have been conducted by URPSSI from 2005 and it will continue to hold international conferences and live operative workshops in future too with an objective of promoting periodical   learning from world leaders in Urogynecology.

This year, International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) has joined hands with URPSSI and the Regional symposium of IUGA & URPS  2018 is jointly organized.

Let us work together and address the unmet health needs of our women patients.

Let us  pledge to improve the Quality of Life of women suffering from urogynecological diseases.

With warm regards,

Dr. N.Rajamaheswari MD., DGO., MCh., (Urology)
