IUGA/IUGAPAC Webinar Series: Beyond the Waiting Room with APOPS

Leigh McCabe is a New Zealand European woman living in the leafy suburbs of Auckland with her husband and four young adult children. She serves as a patient representative on the IUGA Patient Advisory Council, bringing both professional expertise and lived experience to her advocacy. After experiencing pelvic organ prolapse and undergoing a life‑changing surgical procedure in 2024, Leigh is passionate about elevating patient voices and improving pathways to care.

A registered occupational therapist and cognitive behavioural therapist, Leigh works across the lifespan supporting individuals and families to thrive through life’s challenges, transitions, and moments of uncertainty.

Outside of her professional world, Leigh is an enthusiastic runner, cyclist, mountain climber, and open‑water swimmer, having the successful surgery has enabled her to participate in these activities freely.

Sheree DiBiase

Entrepreneur, physical therapist, pelvic health, oncology certified, educator, owner Lake City Physical Theraphy, host of FemTech Health podcast, founder Pelvic Floor Pro App, health advocate, mother, wife.

Sheree is a motivational speaker with 42 years of experience as a women's and men's health care provider, patient advocate, educatior and facilitator of change for the healthcare gap continuum. She had her own pelvic organ prolapse after the birth of her first son, with bladder, bowel and sexual health issues. She believes families will flourish, when they have access to education, resources earlier in the pelvic health process. Sheree works with patients, gruops, and organizations to empower them in regards to their personal and buisness health. Sheree is also the host of The FemTech Health Podcast. She is a APOPS Board Member. 

Founder and CEO of Association for Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support (APOPS), Sherrie “Sher” Palm is a pelvic organ prolapse patient advocate, women’s health activist, award-winning author, and international speaker. Sherrie leads the global charge to destigmatize vaginal health and amplify awareness of pelvic organ prolapse (POP).

Leon N. Plowright, MD, FACOG, FACS, is a urogynecologist and pelvic reconstructive surgeon at UF Health Jacksonville, where he is Clinical Assistant Professor and Medical Director of Elizabeth G. Means Women's Services. He cares for women with pelvic organ prolapse and teaches surgeons in training. He serves as Vice Chair of the IUGA Communications Committee.
