The IUGA Journal Club is an interactive online academic session designed to critically evaluate recently published scientific articles across women’s health, pelvic floor medicine, and related clinical research fields. Each session includes a structured presentation of a selected study, a focused discussion of its methodology and clinical relevance, and a concise overview of key research guidelines to strengthen critical appraisal skills. Led by expert faculty, the Journal Club aims to enhance participants’ understanding of study design, interpretation of results, and the practical application of evidence-based medicine in clinical practice, followed by an interactive discussion and Q&A.

- Opening and Welcome
- A critical discussion of a case-control study from the literature.
- A 15 minute presentation on scientific study designs and a concise overview of the main guidelines relevant to writing and evaluating scientific papers.

Dr Kazibe Koyuncu is PhD candidate in Urogynecology Doctorate Programme in Ankara University, Turkey. She is interested in working interstitial cystitis and bladder pain syndrome and female sexual dysfunction.

Dr Yu Hwee Tan is a subspecialist urogynaecologist working in private at Greenslopes Private Hospital and in public on the Gold Coast as part of the urogynaecology department as well as the Queensland Pelvic Mesh Service. She is also a member of the IUGA Fellows and Early Career Professionals Committee as well as the IUGA Publications Committee.
