May 12 is International Nurses Day!

Awareness Months Web nurses day 19

Today, IUGA proudly celebrates International Nurses Day and recognizes the incredible dedication, compassion, and resilience of nurses around the world. Nurses are at the heart of healthcare — providing expert care, advocacy, education, and support to patients, families, and communities every day.

This year’s International Nurses Day theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” highlights the importance of protecting, supporting, and empowering nurses across all healthcare systems. At a time of increasing healthcare demands and workforce challenges globally, nurses continue to play a vital role in delivering accessible, high-quality care and improving lives worldwide.

At IUGA, we are deeply grateful for the essential contributions of nurses and allied health professionals within urogynecology and pelvic floor care. Their commitment, leadership, and expertise continue to inspire our global community.

International Symposia

IUGA is also proud to support nursing and allied health professionals through our International Symposia, held every two years to advance education, collaboration, and innovation in pelvic floor care.

Our most recent symposium, held in February 2026, focused on the theme “New Frontiers in Pelvic Health: Innovation, Inclusion, and Interdisciplinarity in Pelvic Floor Care.” The program brought together an international faculty and multidisciplinary audience for an engaging series of workshops and educational sessions exploring collaborative approaches to pelvic pain management, the impact of hormonal changes on pelvic floor function across the female lifespan, and the importance of inclusive pelvic health care for diverse and underserved populations.

The symposium also highlighted emerging research, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary strategies designed to improve patient outcomes and strengthen global pelvic health care.

Stay tuned for our next International Symposium in 2028.
