Fellow's Community

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Fellows’ Committee is to contribute to the academic development of fellows in the field of Urogynecology/Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery by fostering international scholarship. The mission is executed through the following objectives:

a. to facilitate mentorship by bringing fellows and prominent academic attending physicians together for committee-sponsored educational programs and research meetings.

b. to further the growth of our field by fostering international relationships and stimulating collaboration.

c. to fund and oversee the structure of the IUGA Fellows’ Research Network, which aims to promote research training and to expose fellows to multi-national, multi-center research trials.

d. to stimulate international dialogues on current and future issues in our field.

e. to provide an avenue through which fellows can generate proposals for IUGA Research Grants, IUGA International Fellowship Grants, and IUGA Educational Observerships.

f. to design educational programs specifically aimed at fellows at annual IUGA meetings.

g. to improve accessibility to annual IUGA meetings and regional symposia by working to reduce the cost of registration, lodging, and workshops.

h. to promote, support, and oversee membership of fellows in other IUGA committees.

i. to encourage and coordinate fellow-initiated publications.

Current Projects
The current focuses for the Fellows Committee are the Fellows Day to be held at IUGA Brisbane 2012, which will feature hands-on training opportunities and the annual Fellows Dinner, and the creation of the IUGA Fellows Research Network, which will bring together Fellows to work on multi-centre international research projects.

Future Projects
Projects in the pipeline include a formal mentoring system, to supplement existing observership programmes, and the creation of a new fellows webspace.



Fellows Programs & Activities

Fellows Paper Session

An informal session scheduled during the IUGA Annual Meeting, with presentation of Fellows' abstracts for feedback from senior IUGA members. Abstracts are submitted for consideration during the annual abstract submission process. Accepted abstracts for this special session will be notified by the IUGA office with instructions and other details for presentation. The session is open to any meeting delegate to attend.
